TEST THE TECH

Let’s talk community development! Something we have always been passionate about here at CFN and are forever endeavoring to promote and nurture when meeting with businesses, organisations, charities and members of our community.

This term the Enthuse ‘Tech Time’ program spoke with The Caboolture Hub and Library Staff to share with them our vision of creating a series of interactive, technology based workshops, open to members of the public of all abilities. Our ideas were met with enthusiasm, embraced by the Caboolture Library Staff and with their knowledge and assistance we have been able to become a part of an innovative and inclusive workshop called ‘Test the Tech’.

The ‘Test the Tech’ workshops, which run every Tuesday from 2-3pm at the Caboolture Library, focus on all things tech and the different avenues in which people can explore and expand their knowledge and skills in this area.  Some of the topics we have covered so far in these sessions include coding, robotics, virtual reality, 3D art apps and gaming.  Each of the sessions held so far have been a wealth of knowledge and a huge hit with our participants!  The workshops have been designed so that all participating members are offered an interactive and hands on experience, whilst facilitated by the Library Staff. There is never a dull moment and the resources available ensure that all people attending are given an equal opportunity to have a go at each featured topic and explore both individually and as a group.

Our Enthuse members are so excited to attend these sessions every week and here is what some of them had to say:-

“We have so much fun at ‘Test the Tech’! The staff are very nice, just lovely. We are always smiling and laughing and we learn some really cool things. I love coding and playing with the robots” – Hannah Franks

“Our tech time at the Library is so cool! My favourite thing so far has been learning how to create our own characters and computer games.  I want to show all the others back at Enthuse and see if we can make our own ‘Enthuse’ game together” – Kamm Mitchell

“Tech time – great fun! Robots. Apps. Very happy!” – Harry Wood

Being able to form mutually beneficial partnerships with a variety of networks, is something we are so proud to achieve here at CFN. When we see the inclusive and positive changes happening, we feel empowered and it reminds us just how important it is for us to continue reaching out and being a part of the community development within our area.

Thank you to the Caboolture Library for connecting us with your humble staff, incredible resources and allowing such a hands on, educational and inclusive program like ‘Test the Tech’ to be developed.

“There is immense power when a group of people with similar interests gets together to work toward the same goal” – Idowu Koyenikan
